During the class, an experienced artist will help you create your own floats, bowls, paperweights, hearts, or votive candle holders. The studio is open every day, but classes are offered Wednesdays – Sundays from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Learn how to blow glass at the Jennifer Sears Glass Art Studio on your weekend trip. Working in conjunction with Lincoln City Glass Center, the city-owned facility is operated by artists who offer their expertise to the public to educate them about the art of glass-blowing, as well as producing artistic works of their own.

Located at the south end of the city in the Taft District, the studio can be visited at any time to watch the process of glass-blowing while appointments for glass-blowing lessons can be made in advance. Friendly and welcoming local artisans will guide you through the process of blowing glass in the same way it has been done for centuries. Volta Gallery displays works made here and is situated across the street from the studio.

Fly a kite

Join in the magic and merriment at Lincoln City’s famous Summer Kite Festival, set for June 25-26 this year. Watch in awe as giant, colorful blue whales, tigers, jellyfish and more fly overhead, some choreographed to music. Plenty of shops nearby D-Beach sell kites, but you’re welcome to just enjoy the expert demonstrations, free kids’ kite-making and family fun on the beach. If you can’t make the festival, Lincoln City’s ideal coastal winds make kite flying a breeze year-round.
